Splitting the bill at the table often takes longer than dessert. Splitting equally is quick, but rarely fair. Working it out item by item is fair, but tedious. Chipn makes the fair way quick too: scan the receipt, tap who had what, and everyone pays their share with a QR code in their own banking app.
Who makes Chipn?
Chipn is an app by Hoobie Software, a small Belgian software maker whose motto is "Software for everyone". Chipn is made in Belgium and tested at real tables, with real receipts from restaurants, bars, chip shops and sandwich bars.
What Chipn stands for
- Fair to the cent. Everyone pays for what they had, and nothing of what someone else ate or drank.
- Your receipt stays with you. The receipt is read on your own phone; the photo isn't sent anywhere.
- No account. You don't sign up anywhere, and there is no profile of you anywhere.
- Your bank account is yours. Your IBAN is stored encrypted on your device and only appears in the QR code you show yourself.
- Pay the way you're used to. With your own banking app, straight from account to account, without a middleman.

Where is Chipn now?
Chipn is in a closed beta, on Android and iPhone. Testers get the newest version first and help decide what to improve. Become a tester.
